Content Advertising
With
content advertising your listing is placed in online
journals and magazines (and sometimes individual websites
and blogs) to increase the exposure of your website and
click throughs.
Both
Google and Yahoo have their forms of content advertising.
Although the exposure from these can be significant the
return on investment needs to be watched. So far Yahoo does
not have a program where ads are placed on individual
websites and blogs, just mainstream websites. Google’s
content match however does. This opens to door for the
potential of click fraud.
For many of our clients content
advertising has worked out well. However for others
eliminating this has increased their return on investment by
a large amount. So we have found that this is a part of the
whole pay per click advertising picture that needs to be
watched carefully.
Recently
other services have sprung up which focus only on content
advertising. These services are new and claim to have
stricter control over which sites they will allow as
publishers. They also have a wide selection of online
magazines and news websites that show their ads.
We are
piloting this with a few clients at this time and will keep
